Notlim Taylor Interview
Published: August 2, 2017
Hi, Notlim please tell us a little about you?
My name is Notlim Renee Taylor, Notlim spells Milton backward. I am fifteen years old and my birthday is January twentieth. My favorite color is yellow, I’m a vegetarian and I am the proud owner of my 9-month-old Frenchie.
Describe yourself in 3 words?
Most people have told me that I’m a very humble person, as well as hardworking and mature for my age.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My parents and my brother are my biggest supporters, they believe in me even when I don’t. They encourage me to try new things and they strengthen me.
How did you get started in the industry?
My father (Milton “Twain” Taylor) is an actor, my brother and I would watch him act and rehearse all the time. Then we started practicing commercials in the mirror at bath time that we’d seen on television, our dad decided to take a chance and let us audition for our first commercial which ended up being our first job.
What was your first acting role?
My first theatrical role was on Real Husbands of Hollywood, I played Kevin Hart’s adopted daughter on the show.
What is the best and worst part of being an actress?
The best part about being an actress is knowing that your gift is blessing others, your gifts entertain people and make them laugh when they have had a bad day. There is no worst part of being an actor at all.
Best advice ever given?
One of my passions is helping people, I love to see other people happy. My singing coach told me that I could continue to have that passion but I needed to make sure that I was happy too.
How did you find out about “Marlon”? And tell us about your character Marley?
When my dad told me I got the role, I didn’t believe him. Then my agent called to congratulate me, I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked, happy, and confused. I didn’t understand what I did to deserve what God has blessed me with. I was thankful at the same time though. I’m so blessed and so thankful to be a part of such an amazing show with amazing people.
My character Marley is a 14-year-old book worm and a 4.0 student in her private school. She is extremely educated, mature, and she juggles a lot of responsibility between dealing with the divorce of her parents while helping to raise her little brother Zack and school work. She respects and loves both of her parents unconditionally. No matter how immature or overprotective Marlon might act towards different challenges in her life, she is always going to be daddy’s little girl.
How is working with Marlon Wayans?
I love working with Marlon, Marlon is crazy but professional and he reminds me a little too much of my own dad. He makes the set a comfortable environment for everyone to work in.
What has been your most memorable experience from the set so far?
The most memorable experience for me on the set so far would have to be filming the 4th episode and celebrating my birthday. Marlon surprised me with a cake, my aunts and grandmothers flew in from out of town, and the audience sang happy birthday. I felt so loved and thankful to GOD for blessing me with such a wonderful new family.
What other projects you have been part of?
Other projects you may have seen me on our ABC’s Black-ish, 2015 American Girl movie (Grace stirs up Success), Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart, and Instant Mom.
