Birmania Rios is a Dominican American television news journalist. She was born in New York in the United States. Despite this, she spent most of her early life in Puerto Rico. She is a fan favorite, especially in New York’s Latino community.
Birmania Ríos Biography
Birmania was born in New York City. Her family lived in New York until she turned four years old and her family moved to Puerto Rico. She obtained her degree in communications from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, the capital and most populated city in Puerto Rico. After graduating, she moved back to New York by herself. She currently resides in New York City with her daughter named Valentina.
After moving back to New York, she worked with the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater founded by Miriam Colon, a well-known Puerto Rican actress. She however only got the opportunity to work in television after getting a job as a publicist on a local television show called “The Caribe Show”. She got a chance to get on-camera when the show’s host was unable to host. After her performance, she had won the favor of the audience and producers and thus, she was given the role permanently.
As she worked as the show host, she garnered prominence with the New York Latino community. Soon after, she became a regular on local Univision station WXTV, where she worked as a weather anchor. Then later, she became a general assignment reporter and hosted the show Sabado al Mediodia for about two years. Birmania rose through the ranks and became the news anchor on the station’s morning news broadcast Al Despertar.
She left WXTV in 2005 and joined the televised morning show, Despierta America on Univision. Here, she became the audience’s favorite. In addition to hosting, she also is the program’s local correspondent in the New York City Metropolitan area.
